Students who receive a term grade point average of 3.3 or higher while completing at least three courses for a conventional letter grade earn the fall 2017 Dean's Award for Academic Excellence.

Lebanon Valley College recognized more than 150 student-athletes who competed for the Flying Dutchmen athletic teams during the winter season.

Cedar Crest College was represented at the conference for the Eastern Psychological Association held in Philadelphia PA on March 2 and 3, 2018. Justina Lopez and Kerrie Baker, Professor of Psychology, presented a poster titled "The Use of Emojis in Communications between Students and Professors", and Justina Lopez and James Scepansky, Associate Professor of Psychology, presented a poster titled "Priming Effects of Rap Music on Attributions of Blame". Both posters were well-received and generated a lot of discussion with conference attendees.

Cedar Crest College's Sophomore Expedition is a unique program that allows every sophomore who is in good academic and judicial standing to study abroad during spring break at no extra cost. This year's trip is to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from March 3 to March 11, 2018. Travel, lodging and meals are paid for by an anonymous alum. Minus the cost of a passport and visa, it won't cost students anything beyond their regular semester tuition, room and board, and fees.

The following people recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

Sister Act is the feel-good musical comedy smash based on the hit 1992 film that has audiences jumping to their feet! Featuring original music by Tony- and eight-time Oscar winner, Alan Menken, this uplifting musical was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical. When disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won't be a found: a convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Soon, the gang is giving chase, only to find them up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood.

Kutztown University has inducted 23 students into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Phi Kappa Phi is an honor society established in 1897 to recognize and encourage superior scholarship without restriction as to area of study.

The National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) is the recognized leader in higher education providing knowledge, ideas and resources for campus life. Members are provided with programs and events focusing on student and professional leadership development, program planning, concert management, diversity and more.

The Cedar Crest College swim team finished in 2nd place in the 2018 NEAC Swimming and Diving Championships, with six student-athletes earning All-Conference team awards and Head Coach Charlie MacDonald named as Co-Coach of the Year.

The Cedar Crest College swim team competed in Day 1 of the NEAC Swimming and Diving Championships, with Autumn Kidulic winning the 200 IM and breaking the school record.

Hard work in high school has paid off for college-bound seniors. The following students have earned Merit Scholarships to attend Alvernia University in the fall.

More than 90 Wilkes University students will complete internships as part of their academic work in spring semester 2018. Internships complement academic work, provide students with practical experience in their field of study and prepare them to enter careers.

Golden Wolves have been named to spring athletic teams at Alvernia University.

Cedar Crest College believes that being civically engaged in one's community is a critical step in one's life journey. Each year during New Student Orientation, students are provided an opportunity to begin their civic journey by volunteering during our annual Day of Service. This opportunity allows students to serve others while demonstrating learning, connection, and caring involvement in the surrounding community. The Class of 2021 teamed up with faculty and staff members, Interim President Elizabeth Meade, and the Friends of the Allentown Parks for the college's Day of Service on Saturday, August 26, 2017. The group cleaned up the grounds between Fountain Park and Valania Park in Allentown. Later in the day the group walked to Zion's Reformed United Church of Christ at 620 Hamilton Street, where Cedar Crest College held its first classes on September 5, 1867, for a photo.

America Reads and America Counts is a tutoring opportunity that works with local children in before school, during school and after school programs to help children develop and improve their reading and math skills. Cedar Crest College students work with community children from kindergarten to 12th grade. Students who achieved Dean's List have earned a GPA of 3.65 or higher in the academic semester.

Students have been named to the University of Delaware Dean's List for the Fall 2017 semester.

A total of 1,555 students have been named to the Dean's List at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) for the Fall 2017 semester of the 2017-2018 academic year, according to Joanne Bruno, J.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs. Students eligible for the Dean's List are those who have attained a 3.50 quality point average or better and are enrolled full-time. The letter grade "B" earns 3 quality points per credit, and the grade "A" earns 4 quality points per credit.

Kutztown University has conferred degrees on more than 475 students during the summer, fall and winter semesters. Kutztown University announces degree conferment twice a year, once in the winter and once in the summer. Commencement exercises are held in May and December; however, students finish the requirements for graduation throughout the entire year. The following students have been awarded degrees since the spring 2017 announcement. The cumulative grade point average necessary for honors distinction is: with honor (cum laude) 3.40; with high honor (magna cum laude) 3.60 and with highest honor (summa cum laude) 3.80. Students listed multiple times have been awarded more than one degree. Students who have requested privacy (FERPA) are not listed publicly.

DanceWorks harnesses the dynamic expression of the human body. The poetry of movement replaces words in an evolving landscape of imagery and emotion. This year's program features dances by eight talented students and two alumni choreographers. As movement enthusaists, they have chosen to investigate their creative visions kentically. They are learning to become adept at communicating ideas via the infinitely malleable elements of space, time and energy. To up the ante, this year the choreographers have been challenged to create their dances on an 8x8 foot stage. This constraint breeds a wealth of creative possibilities as it encourages the artists to truly focus their vision.

Runaways is a musical which was written, composed and directed by Elizabeth Swados, about the lives of children who run away from home and live on the city streets. The characters were taken from workshops conducted by Swados with real-life runaways in the late 1970s.

More than 200 Kutztown University students have been inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success. To be inducted, students must attend an orientation, a three-hour Leadership Training Day, three Success Networking Team Meetings and three Speaker Broadcasts featuring leading figures delivering success-related messages to our members.

The Cedar Crest College Student Activities Board provides social, cultural and educational programs to the College community. Some recent programs include karaoke nights, musical entertainment, game show nights and comedy nights. The main goal of the Board is to provide entertaining and enriching experiences for the entire Cedar Crest College community. Students involved with the Board are provided many opportunities to develop leadership skills while initiating and programming events. Lebanon Valley College wishes to congratulte nearly more than 700 students named to the Dean's List for the fall 2017 semester. Dean's list students must maintain a GPA of at least 3.4 out of 4.0.

Psi Chi, an affiliate of the American Psychological Association and American Psychological Society, is the national honor society in psychology. It is open to students with either a major or minor in psychology who have completed at least three courses in the department, have a "B" average, and a cumulative average placing them in the upper third of their class. Lifetime membership is achieved through a formal installation by invitation and is held usually in the spring and fall. 2017-18 Cedar Crest College Psi Chi officers are: President - Kirin Uzar; Vice President - Keana Makari; Secretary - Jaclyn Haiem; Historian - Amy Webster; Advisor - Micah Sadigh.

Out There is Cedar Crest College's lesbian, gay, bisexual and straight alliance. This organization is open to all members of the College community. It is designed to help eliminate homophobia through education, positive awareness and social activities.
